Angal St. Luke Hospital
Angal St Luke Hospital is a 220-bed general rural hospital. It is a Private Not for Profit institution belonging to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nebbi (Registered Trustees of Nebbi Catholic Diocese). The vision of the hospital is ‘All human beings are entitled to access health care services and receive support and care in their sufferings” while its mission is “To offer quality and sustainable health services, in accordance to the standing national and catholic health policies for a general hospital.”
The Hospital is operating in a rural and poor environment and serves an assigned catchment area population of 31,556 for HC III activities and an estimated 141,300 for second level activities. However, many patients access the Hospital from a wider area and it may be stated that its actual catchment area population reaches 312,464 people. Patients, moreover also come from the near Democratic Republic of Congo, Buliisa District and other neighbouring Districts.
The FY 2023/2024, marked the second year of implementation of Bulimia implementation of the 5-year strategic plan 2022/23-2026/27. The hospital continued its journey of strengthening its capacity to deliver quality services to the vulnerable population, by implementing some turnkey projects and actions in the strategic plan. The Board was also inducted to ensure good governance for quality, and through the many decisions made during the FY including the constitution of substantively appointed management members to strengthen hospital leadership, addressing policy gaps and ensuring community engagement. Consequently, some achievements were experienced.
